5.43 mile hike with an elevation gain of 745 ft.

Park Permit Restrictions limit attendance to a total of hikers

Description: Join us in exploring Scott’s Run Nature Preserve , a hidden gem in Fairfax county.

From the parking lot we will proceed counterclockwise along the outer loop of the park.

Please Note: there is maneuvering over tree trunks, a small creek crossing and a steep climb up an embankment.

We will stop for lunch at the small Scott's Run Waterfall .

From there we will follow several inner loops of the park before following the trail back to the parking lot which contains two stream crossings on pylons .

Please ensure you are comfortable with hikes of this distance, pace, and elevation gain.

DOGS: are permitted on this hike in accordance with the NVHC Dog Policy .

PACE : 2-2.5 mph when moving.

BRING: Adequate water, Sturdy hiking shoes, Poles if you use them, Lunch/Snack. Adequate layers of clothing.

FACILITIES : Porta Potties in the parking lot.

WHERE TO MEET: We will meet in the Large Scott’s Run parking lot . Plan on arriving at 9 am to get checked in. We will leave on time at 9:30.
