About this event
Join Arnold Lehman, Director Emeritus of the Brooklyn Museum, for this lecture titled New Directions to Hidden Treasures, which offers a richly illustrated journey through the cultural fabric of the United States, highlighting museums across the country deserving of greater recognition. Moving beyond the iconic museums of New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, and back again, the talk reveals a diverse landscape of art, innovation, and Americana in exceptional museums in smaller communities as well as in urban centers. What distinguishes this journey is its deeply personal approach that includes insights from those closest to America's cultural heritage: scores of museum colleagues and collectors pointing to museums they believe deserve wider and louder acclaim.
New Directions to Hidden Treasures suggests a new roadmap that embraces extraordinary cultural institutions rich in meaning and visual wonder that might not have been at the top of the older and more abbreviated guide to America's great treasures.
