About this event

(Petworth) Midweek Flow: Strength + Ease @ 3905 Georgia Ave NW DC Join this midweek flow to help you find balance in strength and ease. This class blends stretching and strengthening for a practice that both unwinds and engages. We’ll begin with feel-good stretches to release tension and realign the body, then move into a heating warm-up followed by a series of standing, balancing, and core-focused poses. Each posture will be held for 5–8 breaths, transitioning smoothly from one to the next at a moderate pace. Class winds down with deeper stretches and a guided relaxation to leave you refreshed and ready for the rest of the week. Sessions begin and end with a brief meditation or breath practice. All levels of experience are welcome. -- Our flow classes are designed to be challenging and inspiring, relaxing and restoring. Why the same class type can feel different when taught by different teachers: It’s our mission to ensure yoga is accessible and meets your needs! Each Yoga District teacher has their own way of teaching yoga, so we recommend trying a variety of class types with a variety of teachers. With so many options, you're bound to find a teacher and class type that work for you! Here's what to expect in the beginning, middle and end of class: Classes usually start with a series of "grounding," stabilizing movements. This can help you reconnect your mind with your body, while connecting the pace of body movements to the breath. Then the class usually transitions to more warming, strengthening, engaging poses. Toward the end of class you may find poses that focus on flexibility and release. Class usually ends with a final relaxation in "savasana" pose, during which you can lay quietly in stillness to let go. This combination of practices can help you achieve what some refer to as the goal of yoga: awareness of interconnectivity and oneness, bringing about a compassionate way of being.
